Just Transition to a Carbon Neutral City in Bristol: Community dialogue
July 19 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm UTC+1
Community dialogue event creatively exploring what a just transition to carbon neutrality in Bristol should look like.
About this event
The city of Bristol has a uniquely ambitious climate strategy with the target to become carbon neutral and climate resilient by 2030. This is based on a central commitment to achieving a ‘fair and inclusive transition’ which offers residents opportunities to share in the benefits that this could bring and ensures that any burdens resulting from the transition to carbon neutrality are shared fairly.
Building on Dr Alix Dietzel and Dr Alice Venn, University of Bristol‘s existing research into just transitions in Bristol, they aim to bring people together to discuss and think creatively about what a just transition to carbon neutrality in the city should look like and how we can ensure that no one is left behind in this process.
Dr Alix Dietzel and Dr Alice Venn will be facilitating small group discussions on the theme of just transition in Bristol and providing opportunities to share ideas for future steps. They will also be joined by local artist, Andy Council, who will be creatively capturing the key points of our discussion in the form of a mural which can serve to prompt further conversations on these crucial issues.
Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available during the discussions and lunch will be provided to all participants immediately after the event in the St Paul’s Learning Centre Community Café.
