Going for Gold Bristol: The climate & biodiversity crisis & the impact of food procurement
November 14, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm UTC+1| Free – £25
Food is essential for everyone; what we eat, how we eat, who we eat with and why we eat what we do all have an impact on food production and food procurement. The climate and biodiversity crisis means our food choices are now under even more scrutiny than ever. With food and farming producing up to 30% of all global greenhouse gases, changes to our food procurement practice must be one of our top priorities in 2020.
This conference will review the climate and biodiversity crisis and the food impacts associated with it distilling down what can feel like an overwhelming topic into bite-size manageable chunks. Delegates will be able to leave the conference with a better understanding of the key concepts and how they will take action. Within the over-arching framework of the climate and biodiversity crisis, the conference will look at issues including the real impacts of food production, international sustainable trade, healthy eating and shortening supply chains. And, we couldn’t let this conference happen without addressing the elephant in the room which is Brexit – whenever that takes place. This will be a conference with a difference with a focus on action rather than talking and identifying key areas where collaborative, as well as individual, actions can be taken over the next twelve months to make a real difference.
This conference is aimed at organisations who procure, buy or source food or who have influence over those decisions.
Your place on the conference is funded so tickets are free of charge. Please note, we reserve the right to charge £25 for those who have registered to attend but do not do so and have not provided 48+ hours’ notice.
