COP26: Cities vs the Climate and Nature Crises

September 29 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am UTC+1

Join us to hear how cities can and are leading the way in creating transformative change in response to the climate and nature crises.

About this event

Cities use over two-thirds of the world’s energy and emit more than 70% of the worlds carbon emissions. They are crucial in determining whether and how we tackle our environmental challenges and have huge potential to drive the global change needed.

With eyes on national governments as COP26 approaches, our online event Cities vs the Climate and Nature Crises will highlight how regardless of what world leaders decide, cities can and are leading the way in tackling the climate and nature emergencies, providing models for others to follow.

The event will be hosted by the inspiring Katie Hodgetts, a youth environmental activist, co-founder of Bristol Strike for Climate and founder of the Resilience Project.

We are delighted to be joined by Polly Billington, Chief Executive of UK100, as the headline speaker, who will give an overview of the importance and power of cities taking climate action.

We will also hear about the approach, progress and challenges in tackling the climate and nature emergencies in three UK cities – including Bristol and Glasgow, with a live Q&A offering attendees the opportunity to ask questions to the panel.

The Partnership will share a co-created vision for Bristol in 2030, designed by artist Andy Council, and Asia Yousif, one of the current Black and Green Ambassadors, will reflect on the importance of including and empowering everyone to be part of the transformation.

We will also be showcasing stories of communities and organisations across Bristol taking steps to tackle the climate and nature crises, to celebrate these efforts and inspire others.
