Sea Mills Community Garden is working to transform a disused allotment site into a communal garden and orchard, small individual plots and a nature area. We are a project of Sea Mills Community Initiatives, who run The Café on the Square, a very popular community café that was developed from abandoned public toilets. We have a lot of brambles to contend with, but gradually ground is being cleared. We share the space with lots of wildlife, including an active badger sett and Fred, our resident fox, who is regularly seen in his own armchair.

our-resident-fox-fredWith the help of the Postcode Local Trust, we have just installed two raised beds, high enough to be accessible for wheelchair users to maintain. Next task is to create a level path onto the site!

After Easter we will be running group gardening sessions every Wednesday afternoon, and every third Saturday morning of the month. Volunteering on the communal patch means sharing in our produce. You can find us on the plot, above Sylvan Way between Ely Grove and Shirehampton Road.
