The Folk House Café serves a range of hot meals and cold snacks, with the following assurance: ‘At the Folk House Café you can be sure that your food has travelled as little as possible, is produced using sustainable farming practices and gives a fair deal to suppliers.’
They use a lot of local and seasonal food – having lunch there in March I enjoyed sausages and lentils which is a great example of eating store-cupboard vegetables when fresh veg is thin on the ground! They also do good cakes and have a chilled-out, friendly atmosphere – it’s somewhere you can eat outside (borrow a blanket if it’s nippy) and comfortably on your own, at lunch times or early evenings. Notable for good, imaginative vegetarian choices.
JS adds: All meat, dairy, bread and fresh produce, from The Better Food Company, is certified organic. Other produce is mostly organic and where it isn’t it comes from local trusted suppliers.
