RHS: The Edible School Garden course
February 20 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm UTC+1| £95
The RHS Campaign for School Gardening inspires and supports schools to provide children with gardening opportunities to enhance their skills and boost their development. Reconnecting with food helps children to develop healthier habits. This has never been more important than today, when nearly a third of children aged 2–15 are overweight or obese. The government’s new voluntary healthy rating scheme for primary schools recognises those that are encouraging children to eat better and move more through a whole school approach.
A thriving edible school garden is an invaluable resource in supporting this approach and this enjoyable, hands-on course will cover all the basics so that you can get children actively involved in growing their own food.
10am–4pm Tuesday 20 February 2018
Suitable for: teachers, teaching assistants and volunteers across all age groups, with little or no previous experience
